SOUTHEND & EMT skipper Joe Robbins is hoping for positive last day drama this weekend.

Robbins’ Southend side won promotion from Division One in their final outing of last season.

And he is now keeping his fingers crossed they have what it takes to stay in the top flight in their final outing of this campaign.

A 10 wicket defeat to Ilford last weekend saw Southend slip to ninth in the Premier Division standings with just one game to go.

But Robbins hopes Southend - who host Brentwood tomorrow - will still be able to stay up.

“It’s going to be a tough final day for us against a Brentwood side who are going for the title but we will fight right to the death,” said Robbins, whose team go into the game five points from safety.

“It’s out of our hands but we’ll be doing all we can.”

It also promises to be an exciting end to the season in Division One with just five points separating the top three teams.

Hadleigh & Thundersley currently lead the way and they host Woodford Wells tomorrow.

However, third placed Billericay are are also pushing for promotion and host Gidea Park & Romford.

In Division Two, bottom of the table Basildon finish a miserable season away at third placed Horndon while Old Southendian, who are eighth, host fifth placed Wickford.

In Division Three, champions Leigh host Stanford-le-Hope, while third placed Westcliff are at home to Walthamstow, hoping to clinch promotion. Westcliff go into the game level on points with second placed Harlow Town. Benfleet finish their season at West Essex.
