CHARLTON Athletic’s Chloe Brunton-Wilde says she is excited to ‘go home’ when she makes the trip to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

The 20-year-old from Shoebury rejoined the Addicks - where she came through the youth academy - from Arsenal last summer.

She will take on her former employers this weekend in a re-arranged last eight tie.

Brunton-Wilde has impressed for Charlton this season, helping them to the top of the Women’s Premier Southern Division - the third tier of women’s football.

And she says she is excited to take on the favourites from the Women’s Super League.

“I am excited for it,” said the versatile Brunton-Wilde. “It is a bit of a grudge game but it is all healthy competition.

“It will be weird going back to my old team but it’s an occasion to be proud of.

“They are expected to win and for me that is something new as I always expect to win but I am excited for it regardless.

“I hadn’t actually played in the FA Cup proper until this season. We want to give a good account of ourselves.”

Brunton-Wilde has an impressive CV, having already won two FA Development League FA Cups in her fledgling career.

And she has her eye on promotion this year - despite fierce competition from local side C&K Basildon Ladies.

But Brunton-Wilde is confident of finishing top of the pile come next month.

“We know the title run in will be hard,” she said. “There are some good teams at the top. I have had some banter with the C&K girls but I still back us.

“We have been doing well and I expect to go up. Expectations are high but I am used to that.”

Tickets for the match at Boreham Wood's ground can be bought on Sunday and cost £10 for adults with senior citizens and OAPs paying £5. Kick-off is at 2pm.
