C&K Basildon boss Steve Tilson heaped praise on his side after seeing them end the season with a 100 per cent record at home.

C&K saw off Portsmouth 4-2 at Canvey Island’s Frost Hire Stadium to make it 11 wins from 11 at home.

And the latest triumph also saw Basildon move to the top of the Premier League South standings, much to the delight of Tilson.

“The girls have done ever so well and to have won every single game at home is a fantastic achievement because we’ve been up against some really strong sides,” said Tilson.

“Portsmouth are a good side themselves so it was a good win at the weekend.

“It came after we made a good start and we scored four very different but very good goals so I was really pleased.”

C&K Basildon now sit a point clear of second placed Charlton Athletic who have two games in hand.

But, whatever happens, Tilson feels C&K should be extremely proud of their season.

“Realistically I can’t see Charlton losing twice but you never know and we’ve done all we can to put the pressure on,” said Tilson.

“But whatever happens the girls have done extremely well.

“The lowest we can finish is third and that would still be the highest position in the club’s history.

“It’s been a great season whatever happens now but we have two away games left and we want to make sure we go and win them.”

Basildon’s clash with Portsmouth was a frantic affair in the first half but the hosts took the lead in the sixth minute when a long curling cross from Zoe Rushen teed up Angela Addison to score.

Basildon remained on top and doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Rushen’s corner was headed home by Laken Duchar-Clark.

Two minutes later, C&K made it 3-0 when Jay Blackie netted with an excellent effort from 30 yards.

Three minutes after the break, Portsmouth got a goal back but Basildon stood firm and were able to extend their lead in the 76th minute.

Angela Addison, who had been tormenting the Portsmouth right-hand side all afternoon, crossed from the left for her sister Therese to volley home the fourth goal.

That made sure of another home win for C&K despite Portsmouth netting again 10 minutes from time.
