FOREST Glade’s under-15 white team are celebrating an incredible turnaround in their fortunes.

Just two years ago, the side were ready to fold after losing every single one of their matches.

But, since Louise Riley has taken over as manager and worked alongside coach Daron Glover, Forest Glade have won back-to-back titles.

And this season saw them win Division B of the Southend & District Junior League without losing a single game, much to the delight of Riley.

“Words can’t really express how proud we are of the boys,” said Riley.

“Two years ago, the morale was so low and everyone was ready to fold.

“The manager said we would call it a day and everyone started looking for another team.

“But we had 13 boys and I just said ‘if we’ve got this many, lets carry on and give it a go’.

“Since then, the team has been amazing.”

Forest Glade will now be playing in Division A next season.

And Riley believes the team’s togetherness has played a huge part in their success.

“We’re like a family and we do a lot together away from playing football,” said Riley.

“We go and watch Southend and do all kinds of things, so I definitely think that helps.”

The team are sponsored by AsMatt Ltd and have benefited from Riley’s wisdom.

“I was there every week anyway so I just said I’ll do it,” said Riley.

“I have known some of the boys as they went to the pre-school I worked at and Daron has worked with them all from a young age too.

“He’s known some of them since the under -fives and it’s great to see them doing so well.

“I’m one of four female managers at Forest Glade, but I’m the first one to win the league!”
