BASILDON snooker professional Stuart Bingham saw his hopes of playing in his fifth World Championship shattered at Sheffield's English Institute of Sport tonight.

He was beaten 10-2 in the best of 19 frames final qualifying round match by Stuart Pettman, who will now go on to play in the main event at Sheffield's legendary Crucible Theatre next month.

Bingham fell 7-2 behind in the opening session this morning and lost the first three frames tonight to bow out of the sport's major competition.
