BOSSES at TSG are not going to be rushed with talented heavyweight Stav “Crazy Bear” Economou.
The heavyweight has had two high-profile MMA wins, defeating Bob Sapp and, more recently, former UFC champion Ricco Rodrigues.
TSG supremo Dan Burzotta said the win at the Dubai Fighting Championships had raised Economou’s stock but the gym would not be rushed into making decisions about his next bout.
“We have had several phone calls since he beat Rodrigues but we are taking our time with Bear,” Burzotta said.
“It was a massive achievement for Bear. Ricco is name that is recognised around the world and was the UFC heavyweight champion for quite a while.
“And Ricco said afterwards that Bear was like a combination of an express train and a tank. Ricco said he gave Bear everything he had but he just came through it, and that was high praise coming from a fighter like him.”
