SOUTHEND’S Michael Bourne will put his IBA heavyweight title on the line against Leeds’ Brad Conway on Saturday night (May 26).

It is the headline event of the show featuring 11 bouts at the Talk nightclub, in Lucy Road, Southend.

Bourne was due to fight Liverpool’s Stephen Galloway but he has since pulled out through injury.

Show promoter Scott Elliott says Conway is a good replacement and has already been stoking up the fight with his pre-match trash talk.

Elliott said: “Conway’s very confident, saying he’s going to move around the ring and then knock Michael out.

“But all the talking stops on Saturday night and we’ll see how good he really is when the bell goes.”

Members of the Lockeroom Gym in Southend will also be in action as Essex fighters take on all-comers from across the UK.

Southend’s John Cullinane will put his super-middleweight belt on the line against Portugal’s Marco Berenguer.

Organisers are also staging their first female bout, with Southend’s Helen Morley facing Cambridge’s Mellisa Petaloudas.

The fights will be three rounds of two minutes, with the title fights four rounds of two minutes.

There will be an auction of boxing memorabilia and a blindfold match in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.

Doors open at 7pm, and the action gets underway at 7.30pm.

Entry costs £30. For more information, or to book in advance, call Scott Elliott on 07956 480473, or log-on to www.thelockerroom.biz
