THE Tilbury Leukemia Beach Open attracted 56 anglers and 12 juniors, with whiting, codling and flounder making up most of the bags.
The winner of the £500 first prize was Romford angler Martin Moore with one cod, one whiting and two flounder weighing in at combined total of 4lb 11oz.
Moore also had the best fish of the day with a cod of 2lb 9oz.
Runner-up at the match was Benfleet angler Dion Macfayden with nine flounders for 4lb 5oz.
Dion’s son Marley also won the junior competition with five flounders for 1lb 5oz.
Third in the senior competition was Ongar’s Jimmy Mayhard (six flounders: 3lb 7oz), fourth was Hornchurch’s Kevin Knight (one cod, three flounder: 3lb 6oz), and fifth Bexley’s Nigel Davies (four flounders, one whiting: 3lb). Julia Hammond, from Barking, won the ladies’ competition after landing two flounders for 1lb 5oz.
