BILLY Praim-Singh has made history for Southend-on-Sea AC after breaking a 45-year-old club hammer record.

The talented 16-year-old usurped the throw of former club president Trevor Woods, who, as a 30-year-old, recorded a personal best of 46.06m back in 1971.

Praim-Singh has enjoyed a meteoric rise up the junior age group hammer ranking lists but his latest throw of 56.17m has seen him climb even higher up the standings.

Now an under-20, Praim-Singh has moved up to second in the national age rankings in the under-20s (the 6kg with 56.17m) and eighth in the senior category after a tremendous throw of 47.77m (7.26kg).

Praim-Singh continues to add to his own collection of club age records, overtaking Sam Grant's 2013 46.67 6kg in 2012 as well as his 47.77m 7.26k throw.

The club added that Woods was the first to say that the record was long overdue being broken and that Praim-Singh was just the man to do it.
