FITZWIMARC School’s Mia Chantree finished fifth in the National Indoor Combined Events competition in Sheffield.
The 14-year-old, who lives in Rayleigh, was one of 57 athletes who competed in the sprint hurdles, high jump, shot putt and 800m metres.
Mia secured a personal best score of 3,128 points and was delighted by her display.
“I was really proud as I gained personal bests in long jump, shot put and hurdles with a total overall personal best as well,” said Mia.
“I got to meet Jessica Ennis Hill’s coach (Toni Minichiello) on the day and that was really exciting too.”
