Nine Flyers Southend runners tackled the 45 mile St Peter’s Way Ultra Marathon.
The run started at Chipping Ongar and saw competitors run on trails, tracks, fields, roads and sea walls before finishing at the ancient chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell on Sea.
Chris Legg was first home in an impressive 8:25:31, but was closely followed by Rich Pryor, who knocked two hours 26 minutes off his time last year to finish in 8:37:46.
Jamie Gull (9:11:24), Paul Mansfield (9:41:42), Gail Shorney (9.41.50), Mark Benham (10.47.05), Nicki Benham (10.47.06), Anne Purdham (10.47.06) and Keith Passingham (10.47.06) also completed the challenging course.
Elsewhere, Alex Childs and Scotty Brenton completed the Headcorn half marathon in 1:36:59 and 1:51:28 respectively.
