IN the inaugural running of the British Colleges Track & Field Championships, Seevic Athletics Academy returned with a bag full of medals.
Mitch Etheridge, the reigning English Schools pole vault champion, returned to Gateshead International Stadium, the scene of last year’s triumph to take another national title, with a 3.80m clearance. Basildon AC’s quartet of Emmanual Nanang, David Scupham, Luke Beard and Katherine Ellis were also in amongst the medals.
Nanang and Scupham achieved personal bests taking the silver medal in the 400m hurdles and hammer.
There were two medals for Beard, who took silver in the shot, and bronze in the javelin.
Ellis completed the medal haul with silver in the Javelin. Southend AC’s Rhys Gillard was narrowly outside his personal best and the medals, finishing fifth in the 3,000m.
>Seevic are currently recruiting athletes for September’s Athletics Academy intake.
