Cash boost takes mini teams to the max...
FOLLOWING a recent large cash payout awarded to them, Ashingdon Youth Football Club were again celebrating today following another significant grant of £7,450 from the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity.
The bonanza will allow Ashingdon to start up one boys' and two girls' mini soccer teams each season for the next three years.
The grant will be used to fund coaching and emergency first aid courses, first aid kits and training facilities.
David Keenan, treasurer at Ashingdon Youth, said: "The club would like to thank the Football Foundation for their support in granting us the funds which will enable us to extend our work with youngsters in the local community.
"Without such help our ability to provide facilities for local youngsters is more difficult."
With the previous grant awarded for plant machinery, the club is now able to press ahead with the development of their ground at Cherry Orchard Lane in Rochford.
The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country.
Funded by the Premier League, the Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation's largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football.
