WESTCLIFF are keen to upset the form book when they host National Three London & SE leaders Barnes at The Gables tomorrow.

Barnes have won eight out of their nine games so far this season, while Westcliff have lost their last three.

But their first team manager Rick Compton is still hopeful of springing a surprise.

“We’re confident that we can cause the league leaders plenty of problems and upset the form book,” said Compton.

“We are very much aware that the margins are very fine between winning and losing in this league and all the teams are capable of beating each other on any given day.

“We aim to remind Barnes of that fact, but they’re obviously the favourites. They have already seen off the highly-fancied Dorking, Bishop’s Stortford and Tonbridge in recent weeks, so we’re in for a real test.

“However, we’re determined to put last week’s performance at Guernsey behind us,” he added, referring to last Saturday’s 19-13 defeat.

Westcliff’s hopes has been hit by injuries though and several players will face late fitness tests before the starting line-up can be finalised.

Definitely unavailable are hard-working prop Ewan Binneman and powerful lose forward James Scoggins, but Cory Wallace will make his first team debut for the club in the front row.
