ROCHFORD Hundred’s director of rugby George Fouche felt his side showed signs of rustiness during their 29-17 opening day defeat to Chelmsford.
Rochford were seen off at Magnolia Road in their first London Two North East clash of the campaign.
And Fouche was disappointed by the display.
“I thought we looked a little rusty if I’m being honest,” said the director of rugby.
“We weren’t helped by having seven players unavailable and it will be a completely different team when we’re back in action against at the weekend.
“We will have worked hard in training by then too and hopefully we won’t be as rusty next time.”
Rochford just missed out on promotion last season, finishing third in the table.
But Fouche is refusing to put too much pressure on the team.
“We are aiming to finish in the top half of the table this year,” stressed Fouche.
“I am putting my faith in the young players we have because they are the future of this club.
“However, it could well take a couple of seasons for them to settle down and to be at their best.”
