SOUTHEND Saxons skipper Kris Chesney has urged his side to cut out the silly errors when they host Dorking at Warners Bridge tomorrow.

The Saxons have been beaten in three of their first four games of the new National Two South season.

And Chesney is desperate to put that right this weekend.

“Winning your home games is a must at this level and we need for that to happen this weekend,” said the experienced former Saracens man.

“The home game we lost to Redruth on the opening day of the season is killing us at the moment and we have to make sure we do better this weekend.

“For that to happen we need to cut out the silly errors we made at Henley last weekend because without them it would have been a very close game and that was against the best team in this league.”

The 31-13 defeat pushed Saxons down to 12th in the 16 team table.

But Chesney is confident of soon turning things around.

“It was always going to take time for things to come together and I don’t actually think we’ve been playing that badly either,” said Chesney.

“At Henley last week things could have been different as we put their pack under pressure and they conceded six penalties in a row.

“Some sort of punishment should have been handed out after that and we should have been given some kind of advantage.

“However, we had an inexperienced referee and he made the wrong decision.”

The Saxons have no new injury concerns and have influential back row David Jackson available again after he recovered from a hip injury.

Jackson has not featured since the first game of the season but is now ready to return.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 2.30pm.
