ANDREW Frost admits it will be a weird experience coming back to Southend as an opposition player tomorrow.

The full-back, who turns 31 today, was a prolific points scorer during his nine year spell at Warners Bridge.

But Frost could well be lining up for Dorking against them this weekend.

And the former King John School pupil is confident of enjoying a successful first return.

“The talent in the Dorking team is awesome and there’s real strength in depth too,” said Frost.

“We came up last season and we’ve won three of our first four games.

“It could have been four out of four and we’ve been actually played against some of the top teams in the division so that bodes well.

“I would be surprised if we weren’t to win again tomorrow but I’m obviously bound to say that.

“It’s a game I’ve obviously been looking forward to as I’m coming back home to play.

“My mum and dad will be able to come and watch but I do expect it to be a bit weird playing against Southend.”

Frost was regularly among the league’s top point scorers during his time with Southend.

But he admits to having lost his passion for the game towards the end of his spell at Warners Bridge and felt it was time for a new challenge.

“I think I had gone stale and had fallen out with rugby a little bit if I’m honest,” said Frost.

“I needed a new challenge and it’s been going really well at Dorking.

“It was quite strange going to a new club at 30 years old and having to prove myself again but I think it’s what I needed.”

Frost was forced to have surgery on a shoulder problem in July and has yet to appear for the first team so far this season.

But he has impressed in the seconds in recent weeks and hopes to earn a recall this weekend.

“My shoulder is feeling good and hopefully I can play this weekend and then carry on for another couple of seasons before I have to retire,” said Frost.

“I’ve got arthritis in there so there’s always going to be a bit of a pain but the operation has made a big difference and allowed me to continue.

“I’m looking to make the most of it but I’m also having to juggle things around more now with my job in the city and being a dad to twins who were born five months ago so it’s all quite hectic for me.”
