LONDON & SE INTERMEDIATE CUP

Rochford Hundred.............................................27
Hampstead.........................................................3

ROCHFORD Hundred secured their third successive victory, beating Hampstead 27-3 in the first round of the London & SE Intermediate Cup.

Hundred produced a pleasing performance in difficult conditions to come out on top at Magnolia Road.

And that delighted their first team manager Graham Pratt.

“It was an excellent performance and result,” said Pratt. “It was also important to keep up the momentum before going back to league action at home to South Woodham next week.”

Rochford’s scrum half Brett Smith opened the scoring soon into the game with a typical effort, driving over from a pick up from a set scrum.

Weather conditions did not help either side as ball was won, then lost and turned over but it was Rochford who controlled and handled the ball far better than the visitors.

Wave after wave of attacks were kept at bay by good tackling from the Londoners and some wayward stuff from the home team before number eight Scott Horsburgh drove over for another try and shortly after he landed a penalty kick to take the score line to 13 -0 at half-time.

Hampstead opened the scoring in the second half with a penalty before Rochford hit back in the final quarter.

Greg Whight and Adam Ashton both bagged tries with Ashton also converting them both to complete a comprehensive win for Rochford.
