SOUTHEND Saxons roared back to winning ways with a 50-13 victory against Lydney in National Two South this afternoon.
Saxons had been beaten in five of their first six games of the new season but got themselves back on track with a commanding win at Warners Bridge.
However, it was a disappointing day for Westcliff in National Three London & SE as they were seen off 29-11 at home to London Irish Wild Geese.
In London Two North East, Rochford Hundred maintained their run of good results with a 32-20 win at Braintree.
South Woodham Ferrers also won, beating 27-22 at home to Diss, but Basildon were thrashed 50-3 at table-topping Norwich.
Billericay also suffered a heavy defeat in London Three North East, losing 95-6 at home to Cantrabrigian while in Essex One Canvey Island lost 31-28 at home to Millwall and Pegasus Palmerians were seen off 24-17 against Bancroft.
