CANVEY Island bounced back from two successive defeats to win 35-29 at Maldon.
Canvey opened the scoring with a penalty from the boot of fly half Tom Lister before Maldon levelled things up with a kick of their own.
Maldon then added a converted try to lead 10-3 before the Islanders hit back with Lister kicking another penalty.
However, Maldon replied with another converted try before Canvey responded when Lister brilliantly sent a sweet cross-kick in to the path of winger Danny Gillett who went over for the try.
The sides continued to swap scores, with Maldon bagging another seven points from a converted try before Canvey replied with Lister unleashing another clever kick which enabled full-back Charlie Downs to score.
Lister added the conversion, before Canvey scored again from the restart as good play from Scott Wheeler enabled Charlie Clarke to race through.
Lister again added the extras before Maldon scored a try which went unconverted.
However, Canvey were not to be denied and a try from Frankie Leeming and a penalty from Lister ensured they came out on top.
Canvey have now won four of their six games this season and are sixth in the table.
But bottom of the table Pegasus Palmerians were beaten 31-24 at Dagenham and have still yet to win this season
