PROP-FORWARD Craig Strachan is out to secure Southend Saxons a third successive win when they head to Launceston in National Two South tomorrow.

After a slow start to the season, Saxons have seen off both Lydney and Worthing in their last two games.

And 22-year-old Strachan is desperate to keep the good run going this weekend.

“It's always nice to win but the way we are winning is more pleasing because we’re really starting to break teams down and we want to do the same at Launceston now,” said the Southend based Strachan.

“The main difference is the little things are starting to work now, passes which we're being dropped are now being caught, kicks which we're being missed are now being made and it’s been great to see.”

Southend, who have risen up to 11th in the standings, will now be seeking more of the same in Cornwall.

The Saxons sit two places higher than their hosts who have been beaten in their last four games.

And Strachan would love a repeat of last season when Southend won 32-17 and the prop forward was among the try scorers.

“It would be very nice to go down and win like we did last season but it's hard to get a result down there,” said Strachan.

“Scoring a try isn't that important to me but it's always nice to get on the score-sheet.

“I don’t really mind who gets the tries but Launceston are always tough to play as they have a big heavy pack but they are normally unfit!

“We have plenty of confidence as a team but we've been confident all year and it’s not just because we’ve won the last two.”

Southend will be forced in to making at least a couple of changes this weekend as winger Danny Cleare has been forced back on to the sidelines with a knee injury and scrum half Rhys Powell is also unavailable.

Full-back Iain Meads and second row Chris Shields are also not available this weekend.
