THINGS can change very quickly in rugby and we’ve unfortunately seen that too our cost in the last couple of weeks.

It wasn’t that long ago that we won few games and were very close to being in the top six.

But things haven’t gone to plan since then and we know find ourselves down the other end of the table.

It’s very frustrating and so too was the defeat at Canterbury on Saturday.

I read the interview Harry Hudson did in the Echo earlier on this week and he made a number of valid points, especially when came to the referee!

I don’t like moan to about the officials because I learnt a valuable lesson about that when playing in France.

The more you criticise the more I think they will go against you so we just have to battle on.

Saying that though, it was tough to take at Canterbury at times, especially early on.

We had real dominance in the pack and forced a couple of turnovers which we should’ve been rewarded for.

We could easily have been given two penalty tries and gone at least 10-0 up.

But we didn’t get anything, it gave them a boost and certainly improved their confidence too.

We’re certainly not hiding behind that and there are things we need to work on.

However, the beauty of rugby is that you get chances to put things right and we have that opportunity against Taunton at Warners Bridge this weekend.

Taunton are flying this season and are third in the table so it will be a good challenge and one we’re looking forward to.

They have a fantastic back line but we have a very talented squad ourselves and we want to start showing that on a more consistent basis.

We’re also very committed to trying to make sure that happens.

We train as a team twice together twice a week, on Tuesday on Thursday evenings.

The first of those includes us looking at recordings of the game we just played and what went wrong and what went right.

But as well as that we all do weights in the gym throughout the week.

All the players do at least two sessions a week and I go three times to make sure I stay in the best shape possible.

GOOD WIN FOR ENGLAND

IT was a great result for England against Australia last weekend and one they certainly needed.

I obviously couldn’t watch the game live because we were playing at the same time.

I had hoped to watch the highlights on the Sunday but ended up having to go and buy a Christmas tree!
