FULL-BACK Tom Argentieri hopes Westcliff will be able to show that it is good to talk when they host Hertford in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Twelfth placed Westcliff will be looking to work their way out of the relegation zone during the second half of the season.

And Argentieri believes a full and frank team discussion which followed their 40-14 defeat to Gravesend will help make that happen.

“The Gravesend game was a real disappointment but the players got together after the game and had a serious chat about what's going wrong,” said Argentieri.

“We’ve also had a little break since then which has allowed everyone some much needed rest and recuperation as well as some time to think about what we said.

“We’re really looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

“Christmas is great but I feel lost without rugby on Saturday.”

Westcliff are currently five points behind CS Rugby 1863, who sit just above the relegation zone.

And Argentieri, who has been with Westcliff for the past 11 years, is sure the team can close that gap.

“I'm confident in my team mates and the set up at Westcliff,” said the 21-year-old.

“I think we are more than capable of not just staying up by thriving in this league.

“We have shown we can compete but we just need to step it up this second half of the season and cut out our silly mistakes.”

That quest will begin this weekend but Hertford will certainly provide them with a stern test.

They are currently fifth in the standings and have won their last seven games.

In contrast, Westcliff have lost four of their last five outings.
