WINGER Chris Dudman insists Westcliff will be travelling to Amersham & Chiltern with renewed confidence this weekend.

Westcliff boosted their National Three London & SE survival hopes with a shock 16-9 win against Hertford.

And Dudman now wants third from bottom Westcliff to record another vital victory.

“The win against Hertford was exactly what we needed to kick start the season and new year,” said the 22-year-old.

“The team was eager to get one back at Hertford after a poor performance at their ground earlier in the season.

“And the win also gave the team a lot of confidence to beat a side that had recently been getting some good wins in the league.

“We now want to build on that this weekend.”

Westcliff are now 12th in the 14 team table, below Amersham who are currently 10th.

But they have just one more point than the Essex outfit and Dudman is predicting a close game between the two teams tomorrow.

“We are expecting another close game against Amersham,” said the Shoebury based Dudman.

“The last time we met it was a very close contest (Westcliff lost 21-12) and it’s a game that we are going into with a lot of confidence which can hopefully make a difference.”

Westcliff will also be desperate to come out on top as they look to work their way out of the relegation zone to stay in the national leagues.

“For the second half of the season we are expecting a lot more of ourselves,” said Dudman.

“We had a lot of close games with the majority of the sides but failed to finish the job on the day.

“But we are looking to build on those performances now and make sure we move up the table in the league.”
