A NEW electronic scoreboard will be unveiled at Warners Bridge tomorrow ahead of Southend Saxons’ clash with Henley.
Money for the scoreboard was raised in memory of club stalwart David Lowen who died in October 2012.
David played for the club before becoming colts manager and later clubhouse manager.
He also undertook duties as match day duty officer and was secretary for the XV Luncheon Club which has raised more than £35,000 for club projects.
Until poor health overtook him, David also watched the team on the regular basis and was a club member for 62 years.
After his death, David’s family requested donations in his memory to a memorial fund, in lieu of flowers, to enhance the club’s facilities and that has led to the arrival of the new scoreboard which Southend on Sea Mayor Chris Walker will be opening this weekend.
