WE’RE all still really smarting from Dorking’s decision to call our game off against them last weekend.

The verdict was made on Friday evening and I still think it’s an absolute joke if I’m honest.

Representatives from our club still went down for the afternoon to attend the lunch that was taking place at their club-house.

And in their view there was not an awful lot wrong with the pitch either.

Our director of rugby Chris Green had also told Dorking he was happy to come down and look at the pitch to discuss whether or not the game should go ahead.

But they just called the game off, saying the pitch was waterlogged, without Chris going there.

I find it crazy that the decision was made so early as well because it’s not exactly far away.

If the match was involving Redruth or Launceston then I could’ve understood it a little bit more.

However, Dorking is literally an hour and a half from Southend and I don’t think things like this should be only to happen.

All we can think is that Dorking didn’t want to play us in those types of conditions but there should be proper procedures in place for these decisions to be made.

We now have to cram another fixture into our schedule in February and it’s far from ideal.

>WE’RE back in action again this weekend when we face Chinnor at Warners Bridge.

It’s an important game but it’s a difficult one as well because they are having a good season.

They turned us over at their place earlier on in the campaign until we started to step things up a little bit in the second half.

We need to play like that right from the start on Saturday and that way we can hopefully secure another good result to build on the victory against Henley.

>I THINK it’s great to see Nick Easter back in the England squad, despite him being 36.

I never understand it when people say you should build for the future and the next World Cup and pick players of a younger age.

For me, the England team should be full of people who are the best in their actual position and it doesn’t matter if you’re 22 or 42.

I also think it’s good that Danny Cipriani has been recalled because it shows the squad is being picked on form.

He’s a bit of a maverick and he will win you some games and well as you losing you some.

But he’s also been playing well and deserves the opportunity.
