SEEVIC skipper Ricki Gould insists the side will be looking to put right some wrongs when they take part in the College Sport National Championships sevens final in Bath this weekend.

Seevic were seen off 13-5 by Churcher’s College in the under 18 vase final at Twickenham on Wednesday.

And scrum half Gould is keen to help the side make amends in the shorter format of the game.

“We’re all still disappointed about losing at Twickenham but this is a quick chance for us to get out there and put right and few wrongs,” said the Benfleet based 17-year-old.

“I’m personally really looking forward to playing again but the only slight problem is that all our focus had obviously been on the Twickenham final so we haven’t really done too much work on our sevens play.

“We have a strong and speedy side though so I’m sure we’ll be OK and hopefully we can do well in the competition too.”

Seevic qualified for the national finals by winning the regional event earlier on in the season.

They will now face the winners of the South West, East Midlands, West Midlands, London, North East, North West, Wales, Yorkshire and Humberside regions in a round robin competition spread across three days.

And the Thundersley based sixth form college will be taking to the field just two days after running out at the home of English rugby, something Gould will never forget.

“It was just incredible to play there and leading the boys out was a very proud moment for me,” said the youngster.

“It’s hard to put it all into words and I’ve never really felt like that before. It was a mixture of wanting to get stuck in straight and feeling quite sick but it was just disappointing we didn’t play like we all know we can.

“I kept on waiting for the momentum to turn in our favour like it did in the semi-final but it just never seemed to happen which was a real shame.

“Not many people get to play at Twickenham though so we know we should be really pleased with what we’ve achieved and hopefully we can go and achieve something really good again in the sevens this weekend.”
