ROCHFORD Hundred saw off Enfield Ignatians 29-0 in their final home game of the London Two North East season.

The victory pushed Rochford upto fifth in the table.

And it also enabled them to get revenge on an Enfield side who beat them 12-3 back in December.

Rochford started well and went in front after just a few minutes when all action flanker Tom Corbet charged through for a try which Matt Stewart converted.

Moments later, stand-off Adam Ashton also touched down to make it 12-0 and it was soon evident the lighter Rochford pack had the measure of the bigger Enfield eight.

The pace and support work of the home side’s backs and forwards caused many problems for the visitors and, although they tackled well and tried to counterattack, Enfield were unable to break down the Rochford defence.

Hundred, for their part, found plenty of space and Corbet soon went over for his second try before powerful flanker Darren Spencer also ran through to earn his side a try bonus point.

Stewart’s conversion made it 24-0 at the break but Ignatians did not give up the fight and, although they looked tired up front, their backs kept trying to run the ball at Rochford.

As a result, the hosts had to defend before later in the half, young Alex Harbrow Simon Ashton and Dan Bracknell worked well to inject some fresh momentum into the team.

That resulted in a spell of pressure which led to Brett Smith, who was filling in at flanker, breaking through to score his 15th try of the season to complete a memorable afternoon for Rochford.

Hundred will next be in action in a fortnight’s time when they head to table-topping Chelmsford.
