CORRINGHAM’S Emily Scott is back in business after returning from five months on the sidelines with a broken leg.

The fly-half suffered the setback when lining up for the Thurrock T-Birds at the end of last season.

But she is now thrilled to be back in action and lining up again for England.

“I’m really pleased to be back,” said Scott. “I broke my fibula in a tackle while playing away at Saracens and it was quite serious.

“It has taken me nearly five months to come back from and I ended up missing a lot of rugby so I’m really happy to be playing again.

“I was involved in the sevens European competition in Russia before flying out to Canada for the 15’s World Super Series and it was just fantastic.”

Scott helped England’s sevens team to a third placed finish before stepping up to 15-a-side in Canada for three tough matches.

“We played USA, New Zealand and Canada and it was amazing to be involved,” said the former Gable Hall School pupil.

“These were the first games in the start of a new World Cup cycle so it was a great opportunity for us to see where we were as a new group against some of the best sides in the world.”

England were able to see off Canada 15-14 and USA 39-13 but were beaten 26-7 by New Zealand.

And Scott is keen to keep playing both formats of the game.

“It can be hard to switch between the two at times and people often don’t realise how different they are to play, especially at international standard,” said Scott.

“However I love playing both and wouldn’t want to do one without the other.

“Also, each code can benefit the other in terms of skill development so I have found it beneficial to play both and want to keep doing so.”
