My heart says England, but we can never discount the Aussies and Kiwis. I think whoever gets out of our group is in with a shout. I’m hoping it’s England and the Aussies but never write off the unpredictable French. It all depends what French side turns up on the day.

Richard Smith, Canvey Island RFC

I think England can win it but to do so I think they will need someone else to beat New Zealand for them. South Africa are capable of beating anyone in the final stages and Ireland might be the dark horse. Heart on my sleeve over rules head so going to go for England.

Rick Compton, Westcliff RFC

I’m going for New Zealand but I think England will get to the final and they should do too. Being at home I think they should be capable of beating the teams they’re up against. But, although I hate to say it, I do think the All Blacks will win it.

Chris Green, Southend Saxons

I think Japan will be the surprise package and make the semi-finals. All Black Nehe Milner-Skudder will be top try scorer and I think England will play New Zealand in the final and lose.

Brett Smith, Rochford Hundred RFC

I think New Zealand will win as they are the most complete side. England will get to the final winning the group and then playing USA who are my surprise package. Player of the tournament will be Jonathan Joseph or Jonny May for England and Julian Savea for New Zealand. I also think it will be the highest scoring World Cup in history.

Andy Goldsmith, Billericay RFC

If England win the group then I believe it will be an England versus New Zealand final. That would be a great match and really good for the game. England are in the group of death so if we can come out on top then we will be in a great position.

Dean White, Thurrock RFC

I think England will lose in the quarter finals. I can’t see us progressing further because we don’t have an experienced team. Our team had flair and is exciting but it is prone to mistakes. My money is on New Zealand.

India Harvey, T Birds

I would love to see England win it but I’m going to have to go for New Zealand.

England’s group is extremely tough and while my heart says it’s possible for them to surge through to the final my head fears a quarter final elimination to South Africa could be on the cards.
