MIKE Stanley completed his journey from Warners Bridge to the Rugby World Cup by coming on for Samoa in their 25-16 win against USA this afternoon.
Stanley, a former Southend fly-half, had a brief taste of the action as an early injury assessment replacement before returning in the 58th minute to replace fly half Tusi Pisi at Brighton’s Community Stadium.
Stanley kicked a fine penalty from the left touch-line to seal Samoa’s win and will now be hoping to figure in their next game against South Africa on Saturday.
The 25-year-old tweeted after the game: “Great to get the first one under the belt. Good effort from the boys! Looking forward to another week of training already.”
