BASILDON will be looking to bounce back when they head to Cantribrigian in London Two North East tomorrow.

Basildon started the season with a 48-11 defeat at home to South Woodham Ferrers last weekend.

And boss Gary Street is demanding an immediate improvement.

“We’ve been working hard in training and will need to play better than we did against South Woodham Ferrers,” said Street.

“We will certainly need to be much better in defence.”

Rochford Hundred will also be looking to recover from an opening day defeat this weekend when they head to Norwich.

Rochford, who now have former Southend prop Michael Guess in charge, were beaten 13-7 by Sudbury in their first outing and will be hoping to get back on track.

In contrast, South Woodham Ferrers had no such difficulties last time out and will now be hoping to secure a second win in succession when they host Holt tomorrow.

Billericay also started well in Essex One, winning 21-5 at Kings Cross Steelers, and they will now be bidding for more of the same against Pegasus Palmerians this weekend, Canvey Island, who beat Pegasus 24-19 last time out, are at home to Maldon while Stanford le Hope host Kings Cross Steelers looking for their first win of the season.

Stanford were beaten 30-8 to Millwall last Saturday.
