WESTCLIFF will be aiming for their first win of the season when they head to Hertford tomorrow.

Westcliff have been beaten in their first three games of the new National Three London & SE campaign.

But their director of rugby Nick Sigwart believes the performances should have brought greater reward.

And he is keen for that to finally be case this weekend.

“Hertford are a tough side and we know they've picked up a few players this season but we're looking forward to the challenge and coming away with the result our recent performances deserve,” said Sigwart.

“We've played well in the last few weeks but not quite got the results we wanted however we know where we can improve and will look to put that right at the weekend.”

Westcliff should have winger Ross Merrick available this weekend despite him suffering a hand injury in last Saturday’s 32-15 defeat to Shelford.

Back row Matt Roberts is also likely to figure for the first time this season and Sigwart is certain his return can make a big difference to the team.

“Matt’s work rate and presence has been missed,” said Sigwart.

“It’s good to have him back but we've picked up more than our fair share of injuries early in the season.

“However we know we have three or four key players returning in the next few weeks so the news is very positive on that front and will definitely help us moving forward.”
