WESTCLIFF will be facing familiar opposition when they look to secure their first victory of the National Three London & SE season tomorrow.

Westcliff, who have been beaten in all six of their matches, host Colchester at the Gables.

And their director of rugby Nick Sigwart is confident of coming out on top against a team he knows very well.

“We know all about Colchester having played them for many years in various leagues as their rise has near enough mirrored our own,” said Sigwart.

“There is never an easy game against Colchester, they are a strong club and with the exception of London Irish who we know to be extremely strong this year, their losses have all only been by a couple of points so we are under no illusions as to the threat they pose.”

Westcliff were beaten 24-15 at Guernsey in their last outing a fortnight ago.

And Sigwart is keen to bounce back tomorrow as they strive to turn promising performances into more points.

“Not picking up the bonus point our performance deserved at Guernsey was a blow and we are looking to make amends this weekend,” said Sigwart.

“Unfortunately this has been a bit of a theme for us so far in the season and we want to break the cycle this weekend at home.”

Westcliff have back row Matt Roberts available again this weekend while centre Connor O’Brien is also available again after recovering from a hip injury.
