MIKE Stanley will not be heading back to Southend Saxons.

The Samoan international, who appeared twice in the Rugby World Cup, had been in talks about returning to Warners Bridge.

But Southend’s director of rugby Chris Green has confirmed the move will not be taking place.

“There was a willingness on both sides to make this happen and Mike had been training with us too but he won’t be coming back to us now,” said Green.

“I think it’s best for both parties that it doesn’t happen but we wish him all the very best for his future.”
