THURROCK surged up to third in the London One North standings with a convincing 25-5 win at Barking.

Man of the match Tom Pool bagged two tries while Bradleigh Retigan also touched down.

Tom Worsfold added two penalties and two conversions and T’s director of rugby Dean White was thrilled by his side’s second successive victory.

“We were very pleased with our performance on Saturday in very difficult conditions,” said White.

“Our game plan was executed very well by all the players.

“We decided to put Barking under pressure with our kicking game and this had a great effect.

“One area of strength was our set-piece, we dominated in both scrum and line-out and this gave us a great base to play from.

“The control of the game was also key in this victory as we looked to be as professional as possible in the conditions.”

Thurrock are now just five points below table-topping Brentwood.

And White was pleased by how T’s were able to grind out the win.

“What was most satisfying about this win was the way in which we dug it out,” said White.

“We are known for a fast-paced, open game but on Saturday it was a war of attrition and we came out on top.

"You have to be able change the way you play to win certain games so this was a very rounded performance from the team.”
