WESTCLIFF will be bidding for a shock win when they host third placed Westcombe Park in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Westcliff moved out of the bottom three for the first time this season with a 30-8 win against fellow strugglers Gravesend last weekend.

And their director of rugby Nick Sigwart is seeking more of the same on Saturday.

“Last week we put in a good performance, one of our best of the season, but now we need another good display,” said Sigwart.

“Westcombe Park are a very strong side and a well-run club, used to playing in the higher leagues.

“We have managed to secure some shock results against them in the past but given our extensive injury list and their fine form we are taking nothing for granted this time.

“But what is good about this fixture is that they are also bringing their seconds to play our seconds so it should be a good day at the club.”

Westcliff’s first team head into their clash sitting 11th in the standings.

However, they will again be missing a number of players.

“We have an extensive injury list at the minute and have been forced to blood our youngsters earlier than we would have liked,” said Sigwart.

“They have been exceptional and brought a real energy to the team but last week we lost second row Andy Barnett, prop Ewan Binneman and wing Will Allingham which means that yet again we are forced to field an unfamiliar team.

“Adding to our injury troubles, prop Charlie Brown tore his hamstring on Thursday.”

However, Westcliff do welcome back second row Matt Roberts and back row Dave Cosgrove while Callum Bartlett and Jordan Lowe, who both came through the club’s youth system, will be making their debuts.
