SCOTT Horsburgh continued his fine try scoring form to help Rochford Hundred beat Norwich 20-12 in London Two North East.

Horsburgh bagged a brace to help Rochford triumph in their first outing of the new year.

And the 24-year-old – who has now scored seven tries this season - was delighted to have secured a third successive win for Michael Guess’ side.

“It was a good win, especially as we had to fight back to get it,” said Horsburgh.

“The game saw us blow away a few cobwebs from the Christmas period and it’s great to have kept our good form going.

“We want this run to continue for as long as possible so we can try to move up the table a little bit.”

Rochford remain fifth in the standings but started slowly at the weekend as the visitors raced into a 12-0 lead.

However, Horsburgh first try of the afternoon cut Norwich’s lead at the break and the second half saw Rochford able to get on top.

The hosts took Norwich apart up front in both set scrum, loose and most importantly the line-out.

That resulted in the Norfolk side collecting a total of five yellow cards and enabled Rochford to stay on top with Horsburgh his second try of the afternoon.

Hundred were now rampant and went ahead when their ever-elusive scrum-half Ricki Gould benefitted from a dominant scrum to touch down for a try which put the hosts 15-12 in front.

Norwich soon hit back but were unable to breach an aggressive Rochford defence.

And the home-side made sure of the win when influential fly-half Matt Stewart took possession deep in his own territory and sent a beautifully flighted high ball downfield for winger Matthew White to chase.

He did so with gusto and out ran the defence to get the touch down to secure a try scoring bonus point and another good win for Rochford.
