WESTCLIFF host Hertford in National Three London & SE tomorrow looking to boost their survival hopes.

Westcliff are currently 12th in the 14 team table and sit four points from safety after suffering four defeats in their last five games.

But director of rugby Nick Sigwart is hoping for an improved display this weekend.

“Hertford beat us quite convincingly at their ground earlier on in the season so we will be looking for a much better performance this time around,” said Sigwart.

“We took the opportunity against Hertford to give some of our young players their debuts and the experience has definitely helped improve them as players.”

Despite that, Westcliff remain in the relegation zone.

However, Sigwart by boosted by his side’s display in last weekend’s 38-7 defeat at Shelford.

“We actually played pretty well against Shelford despite the score-line, “said Sigwart.

“They simply had a little more across the board than we did and we will be looking to maintain our level of performance as we know that we will pick up wins if we do.

“We have beaten Hertford at home before so we know that it is something we are capable of.”

Conor O’Brien and Randal Whitmore both face late fitness tests ahead of tomorrow’s game but Jeff Meredith is available again following his trip back home to New Zealand during the Christmas break.

Hertford sit fifth in the table, with 11 wins from 15 games.
