LONDON ONE NORTH

Chingford 21, Thurrock 25

THURROCK staged a fine fight-back to triumph 25-21 at Chingford in London One North.

The victory was the T’s fifth in six games.

And their director of rugby Dean White was thrilled by his side’s fighting spirit as they came back from 21-6 down to win.

“On Saturday we showed bags full of character,” said White.

“Our performance wasn't to the standard we expect but to come back from 21-6 down to win the game was a testament of how far our young side has come.

“Chingford were throwing the kitchen sink at us in the first half and they were playing some good rugby.

“But as a management team we felt that we could still win the game at half time with a few tweaks to our game plan.

“Full credit must go to the players for coming back into this game, they really turned it round in the second half and we looked a different team.”

The victory kept Thurrock fourth in the table.

And White was thrilled to see even more of the club’s young players in impressive form.

“We again looked to the future on Saturday by selecting two more young players who both gained their first team debuts,” said White.

“The team is young, exciting and full of energy at the moment. “Our team on Saturday had an average age of 21 and this really is impressive considering they are still winning games against teams who are much more experienced.

“We now have a rest for a week before continuing on in the league.

“We are still working hard at training and want to finish this season playing well and putting in good performances.”
