WESTCLIFF’S director of rugby Nick Sigwart feels his side have nothing to lose at Wimbledon this weekend.

Third from bottom Westcliff saw off Eton Manor 45-19 in their previous National Three London & SE encounter.

And Sigwart is now looking to build on that well deserved win.

“We go to Wimbledon with nothing to lose and our tails up a bit after the win against Eton Manor,” said Sigwart.

“We played well in the Eton Manor game and finally showed a little bit of what we are capable of.

“It has been a tough season for us but the lads have kept going, our promoted academy youngsters have been outstanding and it was very pleasing to see them get the win they deserved.”

Despite the victory, Westcliff still seem set to suffer relegation this season as they remain 15 points from safety with four games to go.

But, as they look to keep their slight survival hopes alive, Sigwart is not too sure what to expect against a Wimbledon side who are eighth in the table.

“We don't know an awful lot about Wimbledon having only played them at this level this season but we will be looking to go there and impose our game on them,” said Sigwart.

“These are the games that we targeted at the start of the season and nothing has changed, we will be going there to win.”

And Westcliff have also not been hit by any injury problems in the build up to the game.

“We have no new injuries to report and we have prop Jack Hopkins continuing on his return from injury to give us more options in the front row,” said Sigwart.

“Hopefully he has spent his time out studying the art of not giving away penalties.

“We are also hoping that full back Andy Roskams will be available although he will have to pass the usual fitness tests.”
