JACKSON Wray hopes his stunning season with Saracens can lead to him securing an England call up next term.

The former King John School pupil helped Sarries secure a domestic and European double.

And he is now determined to build on the success after receiving feedback from the England set-up.

"I've always aimed for the highest level and it's difficult not to think of trying to get an England call up after the season we've just had," said the 25-year-old.

"I spoke to the coaches in the England set-up before the last squads were announced and I was disappointed not to get into one of them.

"That's my next target and I know there could be opportunities if I start next season well.

"But right now I'm just resting up and taking in what has been a great season for us."

Saracens beat Exeter Chiefs 28-20 in the Premiership final at Twickenham on Saturday and, in doing so, became the first English side since 2004 to complete a domestic and European double.

And Wray, who also helped the Londoners beat Racing 92 21-9 in the Champion Cup final in Lyon last month, is proud to have played such a prominent part in the historic campaign.

"What we've achieved is very pleasing and special, "said the back row.

"This group of players have been together for a long time and I think that has played a huge part in our success.

"I think 13 or 14 of the squad have made more than 100 appearances for the club and that kind of continuity always helps.

"We've been through a lot together and it's been a great season on the back of the World Cup which meant it's been pretty non stop.

"We've had setbacks along the way but we've responded well and to end the season with two trophies is brilliant."

But Wray's role in the success may not have been possible had it not been for his PE teachers at school.

"I was more into football but my teachers at King John pretty much forced me into playing rugby," said Wray, who played for Westcliff as a teenager.

"There's a really good sporting set up at the school and I'm obviously glad they got me playing rugby now!"
