THE RED Rockets will be gunning for glory at the national sevens final at Allianz Park on Sunday.

Following on from winning both the elite and open competition at the Essex Charity Sevens, South Woodham side RED will be facing the other eight winners of the national qualifiers at the home of Premiership champions Saracens.

And RED’s director of rugby Jack Kershaw insists his squad cannot wait to take to the field.

“To have qualified for the national finals at Allianz Park is a real opportunity and we will be playing the likes of National 1 Esher and Coventry plus an experienced sevens team in Harpenden,” said Kershaw.

“We have a really tough group with Harpenden, Team Honey Badger and Esher Lions and some injuries have made selection hard but we are strong and look forward to another competitive day out.”

RED will also be heading into the event full of confidence after impressing in the Essex Sevens with all four of their teams reaching the final.

Jack Reeve captained the winning side and felt the day went perfectly to plan.

“It could not have gone any better and it shows just how far RED have come in the past six months,” said Reeve.

“We continue to support local rugby players into the development of the sevens game and to win both tournaments and have two all RED finals shows the depth in our player base.

“We continue to drive forward with plans for 2017 already happening to support local rugby’.

RED were helped by Seevic’s George Griffiths and Amos Sanders on their way to winning the tournament but Rochford Hundred’s Mark Billings was forced to pull out with an injury.
