THURROCK returned to winning ways with a 23-17 victory against Ruislip - but director of rugby Dean White was still not completely satisfied.

Thurrock went into Saturday’s London One North encounter on the back of two successive defeats.

But, despite the improved result, White remained disappointed with his side’s display.

“We are happy that we got the win but not happy with the performance,” said White.

“We can’t afford to play in small spells and then just switch off in this league.

“But what is encouraging is that fact that we showed that we can win ugly and dig it out when we have to.

“This game wasn’t a great display of running rugby but we still came away with the win. “ Fifth-placed Thurrock will now be bidding for another win at Fullerians this weekend.

But White knows improvements will be needed if that is to happen.

“We have a lot to work on over the week and we will look to build on this win,” said White.

“Unfortunately, injuries are starting to take a toll on the squad and our physio is going to be very busy this week.

“But we now move on and look forward to Saturday.”
