THURROCK’S director of rugby Dean White was left delighted by his side’s 31-22 win against Brentwood.

The victory moved T’s up to third in the London One North standings.

And White was full of praise for the performance.

“This was probably our best 80 minutes of the season so far,” said White.

“Both teams played some brilliant rugby but I thought that we controlled the game at crucial points.

“Our set piece was fantastic and our backs created so many opportunities throughout the game.

“We also really stepped up in defence and hit their big ball carriers hard but we must now focus on another big game this week away at Eton Manor.

“The teams won’t be resting on this win and will be training hard in the build up to the weekend.”

Tom Worsfold gave Thurrock an early lead at the weekend with a well taken penalty but Brentwood bounced back to score two tries to lead 12-3.

Thurrock replied with two more Worsfold penalties to cut the lead to 12-9 before another Brentwood try extended their advantage.

Thurrock again hit back with Frazer Kidd sprinting round to score and Worsfold’s conversion cut the visitors’ lead to just a point at 17-16.

The restart ended in a ruck where an indiscretion by a visiting player ended in him being shown a red card which left the visitors a man short for the final 20 minutes.

Thurrock took advantage of their numerical advantage when Troy Michie touched down to give the home-side the lead for the first time since the opening minutes.

However, Brentwood refused to give in and replied with a try of their own to regain the lead with just six minutes of the match remaining.

A Worsfold penalty cut Brentwood’s lead to just two points before Thurrock completed the comeback when Rhys Collins crashed over the posts and Worsfold ended the game with the resulting conversion.
