HIGH-FLYING South Woodham Ferrers have been hit by a number of injuries ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Holt in London Two North East.

Third placed Woodham are six points behind table-topping Old Cooperians with two games in hand.

But first team coach Tony Woods will be missing a number of key players this weekend.

“Selection has been difficult this week due to injuries,” said Woods.

“We’re missing a couple of players and Liam Searles who scored twice at Ipswich is unavailable due to work.

“Brandon Renshaw comes onto the wing and we welcome back Ryan Marshall into the second row following two weekends off.”

Woodham will be without skipper Lewis Gilbert while Ollie Trigg and James Wilson will also not be making the team’s longest trip of the season.

And that will also result in further changes being made to the team.

“Missing our captain Lewis means John Murphy moves into the back row and Andy Fry will go back in to the front row after a good performance against Romford after returning from injury,” said Woods.

“But we’re confident throughout the squad and we look to continue our fine form against Holt.

“Lots of planning has been done for our build up to Christmas and our run of home games after Christmas.

“This is just another step in our season.”

Holt head into the game sitting second from bottom in the table and Woodham’s Neil Gittos is keen to add to their problems while also maintaining his own side’s run of good results.

“We need maximum effort from everyone to get more victories like we have already,” said Gittos. “We need to keep up the momentum.”
