SOUTH Woodham Ferrers host Romford at Saltcoats on Saturday knowing a win will continue their push towards the top of the London Two North East table.

Woodham will start the day five points and two places ahead of Romford in fifth.

And first team manager Jack Kershaw insists his players are looking forward to a rare home game.

“The boys are looking to finally playing at home, for only the second time this season,” said Kershaw.

“We've played six of our seven games away picking up 26 points, which is great going.

“This week Sarries’ back row joined us at training on Tuesday running a scrum and line out session for the forwards which the boys picked loads up on.

“We have Andy Goode and Ollie Phillips down to deliver some backs coaching soon too.

“The lads’ investment into training this season has been excellent and shows by what is happening on the pitch."

And head coach Tony Woods added the team had also been boosted by the return of some key players.

“It will be good to have our skipper Lewis Gilbert back on Saturday,” said Woods.

“We also welcome back Ollie Trigg who has been instrumental in the forwards when available.

“With competition across the park in the backs we line up with them as strong as ever including last week’s try scorers Leon Gateson, Jake Rawinsky and Joe Dukelow all who had excellent games last week.

“After Saturday we have a well-earned weekend off and then finish 2016 away to Old Coopers and Rochford and I certainly look forward to seeing another three wins against our name.”
