THURROCK ended a run of two successive draws with a 25-15 win against North Walsham.

The victory moved T’s up to fifth in the London One North standings but coach David Mobbs-Smith believes there is still more to come.

“I’m happy with the result but I still believe that we have a lot more to offer,” said Mobbs-Smith.

“We still have areas that we are not happy with but the result was a good one against a very good side.

"The win also puts pressure on the teams above us and we must keep pushing on each week.

"We have a tough away fixture this week and then a local derby against Barking before Christmas but we want to finish this year in a strong position.”

Despite the final score-line, it was North Walsham who opened the scoring with a try from Ethan Benney.

Thurrock hit back with two penalties from Jake Barrand before taking the lead when a try from Andrew Nimmo was converted by Barrand.

Moments later, winger Troy Michie made a 35 metre dash down the left for another try to put T’s 18-5 in front at half-time.

After the break, Walsham’s Mike Hendry went over for a try which was converted by Matt Hodgson but the visitors were then reduced to 14 men when Tom Coller was shown a red card for an off the ball punch.

However, Hodgson then landed a drop goal to cut T’s lead to three points but Thurrock made sure of the win when Michie touched down for his second try of the game which was converted by Barrand.
