THURROCK winger Troy Michie is refusing to take anything for granted against rock bottom Sudbury in London One North.

Sudbury have triumphed in just one of their 12 games so far this term.

But Michie is still expecting a tricky test against them tomorrow.

“We’re expecting our game against Sudbury to be another hard fought encounter,” said the 25-year-old.

“We know they’ve had some really close games against the top teams and were unlucky to go down.

“But I think they are going to come out firing against us, especially with them being at home.”

In contrast to their hosts, Thurrock have been beaten just three times in 12 outings this season and are currently fifth in the table.

Last weekend, Michie was among the try-scorers as T’s saw off North Walsham 25-15.

And he is now keen to help Thurrock build on their win.

“It’s crucial we get another win,” said Michie.

“Coming off two draws in games we should have won we were determined to get back into winning form and it was great to be able to do that.

“We’ve still got a lot to improve on when closing out our leads.

“But we have gained a lot of confidence leading into Sudbury this weekend and hopefully that will prove key.”

Thurrock are now 20 points behind unbeaten league leaders Tring.

But Michie has been encouraged by T’s campaign so far.

“The season has been good so far,” said Michie.

“It’s been interesting to see the teams playing with the ball and having a go, which has added to the enjoyment. I’m excited to see the second half of the season.”
