SOUTH Woodham Ferrers will be aiming to pull away from promotion rivals Old Cooperians in London Two North East tomorrow.

Second placed Woodham are currently two points clear of their hosts, who are third in the standings.

And Woodham’s first team coach Tony Woods is keen for that gap to grow with another welcome win this weekend.

“It’s a big game tomorrow as we take on Old Cooperians who are right behind us in the league table so we go there trying to move further away from them with a good result,” said Woods.

“At the same time we also want to close the gap on Diss who are on top of the table.

“But we know we’ll need to be at our best to make that happen because, just as the league placings suggest, this is going to be a difficult game.

“Training this week has also been a little bit up and down if I’m honest, mainly due to the fact it’s getting towards Christmas time.

“But we’re looking forward to the match on Saturday and getting out there for a game which is going to test us.

“It’s an important and busy period and we have our local derby with Rochford Hundred next weekend so it would be good to go into that on the back of another good result to keep us in a really good position.”

Woodham have won seven of their eight games so far this season and are now six points behind league leaders Diss with two matches in hand.

However, Woodham will be missing Sammy Sharp this weekend as he is unable to figure due to the concussion he suffered in last Saturday’s 31-20 victory against Romford & Gidea Park.
